As the world looks for effective pathways to address the intertwined crises of climate change and biodiversity loss, Harvey Locke brings a rare combination of long-term perspective and hands-on experience. A globally recognised conservationist, he works across multiple fronts — from Harvey Locke Conservation Inc. and the IUCN Nature Positive initiative, to Yellowstone to Yukon (Y2Y) and the Nature Needs Half movement.

In this interview at World Climate & Biodiversity Summit in NYC during NYC Climate Week, Dr. Locke reflects on decades of work in wilderness protection and connectivity, sharing lessons that can meaningfully guide global policy, finance, and conservation action ahead.

With the Nature Positive agenda and the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework gaining traction aligning biodiversity goals with climate policy is no longer optional — it’s essential.
