A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Dax Dasilva
Founder, Age of Union Alliance
Dax Dasilva is a global tech leader and environmental activist who is well known as the creative mind behind Lightspeed Commerce Inc. and Age of Union. Dasilva founded Lightspeed in 2005 as a payments software which has evolved today into a one-stop commerce platform for retail, hospitality, and golf merchants in over 100 countries. Dual-listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: LSPD) and Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: LSPD), Lightspeed helps merchants innovate to simplify, scale and provide exceptional customer experiences. Dax served as CEO for 17 years before the February 2022 announcement that he would now serve as Executive Chair of Lightspeed’s board of directors.Â

In 2019, Dasilva released his debut book, Age of Union, as a compelling guide for igniting today's changemaker. This would later inspire Dasilva’s non-profit environmental alliance Age of Union that supports and makes visible a global community of changemakers working on the ground to protect the planet's threatened species and ecosystems. This alliance launched in October 2021 with Dasilva’s initial pledge of $40 million towards conservation efforts that help solve critical environmental challenges around the world and inspire high-impact change by showing the positive impact that every individual can make. Since then, Age of Union has announced 10 global projects including the conservation of critically endangered biodiverse forests in Canada, Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Peru, and the protection of important species such as leatherback turtles, orangutans, dolphins, lowland gorillas, and much more.Â
