A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Dr. Andrea Porro
Secretary General, World Farmers Organisation
Dr. Andrea Porro brings 18 years of expertise as a project leader and subject matter expert in agriculture and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) across over 15 countries. A graduate in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Milan, he began his career in agricultural extension in 2006, focusing on agrometeorology and technology transfer. Dr. Porro holds a Master’s in Crop Production and Protection and a Doctorate in Plant Biology and Production. His academic journey includes research at UNIMI and a full professorship in agroecology in Sierra Leone. Since 2014, he has worked with international organizations, managing large-scale projects and teams in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. As of January 1, 2024, he is the Secretary General of the World Farmers' Organisation (WFO).Â
