A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Achievements
Since its inaugural event in 2021 in Glasgow, World Biodiversity Summit has been catalysing ambitious pledges and best-case practices from its partners and speakers. Today, it is a global platform that bridges international biodiversity and climate agenda fostering bold and impactful solutions, actions and investments for nature.

World Biodiversity Summit 2023
World Biodiversity Summit returned on 21 September on the sidelines of Climate Week NYC and the 78th UN General Assembly. With the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework in mind, the Summit programme was designed to encourage businesses and financial institutions to ensure sustainable production and reduce risks for biodiversity while identifying opportunities derived from nature.
World Biodiversity Summit Part 3 Montreal 2022
On 11 December alongside UNCBD COP15, the Summit took a future-oriented approach to drive nature-based solutions and innovations that can halt biodiversity loss and degradation. It aimed to support a “Paris Moment for Nature” where the new Global Biodiversity Framework was finalised.

On 13-14 November, alongside COP27, World Biodiversity Summit hosted sessions at World Climate Summit 2022. The sessions focused on bridging climate and biodiversity, facilitating strong cross-sectoral collaboration on creating nature-positive solutions.

Following the success of its inaugural year in 2021, the first part of World Biodiversity Summit 2022 took place on 21 September alongside Climate Week NYC and the 77th UN General Assembly. The insightful discussions called for a “Paris Moment” for biodiversity, highlighting the importance of preserving rather than restoring.

For its inaugural edition, World Biodiversity Summit focused on highlighting bold leadership and investments, sharing the best practices and strategies for biodiversity action. The Summit nurtured cross-sectoral partnerships to further develop initiatives for the conservation and regeneration of the world’s ecosystems through the transition of relevant industries.
